The Michael & Son Cares Program is off to a great start this year by helping families all across Virginia, Maryland and D.C. As the number of households with financial difficulties increases, so does the volume of applicants for the Cares Program. This year, the Michael & Son Cares Program is focusing on families with disabled children who are unable to afford essential home repairs. Along with helping more families, The Cares Program is also partnering with several local business to help expand the scope of services offered to the recipients.
“Every year that we do this, the need seems to increase” said Basim Mansour, Proud Son & Owner of Michael & Son Services. “We are helping more families than ever and a lot of that has to do with the out pouring of support from the local business community” continued Mansour.

Hi, I have a 23 year old son named Adam who has epilepsy and learning disabilities. He lives at home and works part time sweeping floors at Bow Tie Cinema. He goes to Johns Hopkins Epilepsy clinic for treatment, but they have not been able to get his seizure under control, even after trying several different medications. He is currently taking three anti-seizure medications and trying the Modified Atkins Diet in attempt to get it under control but so far it is not working.
I am writing to you because my husband who is an electrician was diagnosed with sarcoidosis in his heart, a rare but sometimes dangerous condition. He has had a pacemaker and defibrillator put in, along with an ablation and a stent all within the last two years. Our money had gone to helping our three sons with dyslexia, so our wallets are often very tight, especially with Adam’s and my husband’s ongoing medical needs. Things that need to be done around the house get put on the back burner simply because we cannot afford the renovations.
Sometime ago, our air conditioner in our basement started leaking water and now, it is rusted out on the bottom and our basement has a huge mold problem. We currently have to make due with window units because Adam’s various medical conditions require that he stays cool at all times. We also have two showers, one that leaks into our kitchen downstairs and has been looked at but would require an expensive fix to prevent it. As a result, we cannot use this shower. This would be the best shower for Adam since it is smaller and not a shower/tub combination, which has proven to be dangerous for Adam in the past. Adam has had several terrifying seizures in the shower/tub, resulting in head injuries and breaking off the soap holder during his most recent one. This shower also leaks water into living room, due to poor plumbing when the house was originally built.
We are not doing well financially since my husband got sick. He is still working, but we need some help with the house. Between Adam’s on going medical needs and now my husband’s, we can no longer fix our house. During the last seizure Adam had, we were so afraid he has broken his neck in the shower because he hit it and was bent at odd angle, his skin turning blue and gray from lack of oxygen. After a rush to the hospital, it turned out he had only bruised his neck but this situation cannot continue. As luck would have it, our emergency generator is broken so now if the power goes, we can’t even run window air conditioners. I would deeply appreciate any help as this situation is quickly becoming hopeless.

Good Afternoon,
I would like to know if Michael and Son donate air conditioning units and/or repair services to christian churches in Prince Georges County? If so, I would like to speak to a representative to provide further information about my churches needs. I may be reached at 240-393-9007. Thank you!
